Left figure, Tatanka-Yotanka/Sitting Bull, a Hunkpapa Lakota Sioux holy man, was born about 1837 and is know as Sitting Bull. He is without doubt one of the most famous of all indians.
Sitting Bull took up arms against the whites when he found out how miserable the reservation indians were. In 1876, he was one of the leaders before the battle at the Little Big Horn River, where the indians defeated and massacred Gen. George Armstrong Custer and his 200 men. Sitting Bull was not present at the battle itself befcause of exhaustion after a religious ceremony dance some days before.
After having surrendered himself and his people to the American government he participated in Buffalo Bill's Wild West show and wore a dress similar to that of the tin figure hereby.
Sitting Bull was killed by indian military police on December 15th 1890 by order of the American authorities.
